Final Project:
I use stop motion studio IOS app that was suggested by Mr.Martin during class
few weeks ago. It is very convenient since I'm using my iPhone to shoot.
After done with the color correction in Premiere Pro, I export it into mp4
video.

Final Project:
Week 1: Select 3 stop motion & explain
I really like the style of this video making. The legos were presented as
realistic as actual food along with the sound effect. Also, the arrangement
of the legos were logical similar as cooking video in real life. The sounds
were incredible, it made everything real also enjoying the video more.
This stop motion video is incredible as they used fruits and vegetable to
present the nature life. It's simple and smooth, most importantly it's
comfortable to watch. I really enjoyed it and the graphics and animation
were perfectly done along with the music and sound effects.
This video is more on presenting using puppets and props in order to tell a
story. This video topic is about negative space. I really liked the concept
and also the way of spreading awareness. The whole video was inspirational
and smooth along with the music and side effects, I think this is what makes
people get emotional when watching this video.
Week 5: Stop Motion Style, Theme & Topic
Mr.Martin wanted us to decided on the style theme and topics for our stop
motion final project. For style we could only choose among clay, lego, paper
cutout, model aka toy. For Theme we could only choose between environmental
issue and other social awareness issue. We must deicide on the topic on our
own.
Style: Toy model
Theme: Social Awareness
Topic: Food Wastage
Week 9: Proposal First Draft
Figure1.0 Proposal First Draft
Mr.Martin suggest me to find more visual references like videos or whatnot as the visual references does not show quite clear on what I'm about to do. He also mentioned that he will have to look at my final proposal in order to understand more.
Week 10: Stop Motion Trial Shoot
Mr.Martin suggested me to add graphic background since my characters are toys,
however use a realistic background setting for the last scene in the junkyard
as this is a real world issue to point out.
Week 11 : Stop Motion Final Proposal
Figure1.2 Final Proposal PDF
Mr.Martin said that my storyboard doesn't really match with my storyboard
therefore he suggested me to change my theme to resource/food wastage as my
storyboard shows him this message. However, if I wish to only do food wastage
I must add on digital graphics at the end of the scene where the food piles up
forming a mountain of food.
Week 11: First Principle Shoot
I've decided to stick with my original storyboard as I'm not really good at
digital graphics therefore I choose to switch my theme to resource/food
wastage. In the last scene, I added paper crumps to show the dumped resources.
I also added title and end title to the video, my end title is the facts of
food and resource wastage global statement.

I also added fontTo be honest I think that the color correction was done
badly, therefore I'm gonna redo the color correction on the next shoot.
Week 12: Second Principle Shoot
Mr.Martin said that I should make them move faster, the main focus is on
wasting food so the process of eating burger have to go through faster. Also
the last scene in the junkyard he mentioned to reshoot it and change the
background to only food waste. Therefore I reshoot my stop motion video again
in week 12.

Figure1.5 Principle Shoot2
It is only 30second with open and close title added, however Mr.Martin said it
doesn't matter as long as it's within 60 second, it's the quality matters more
not duration. After that, I move my video into Premiere Pro to make color
correction.

Week 13: Adding Audio&Sound
Firstly, I did color correction to my exported video from my stop motion studio app. I adjust only basics which is the exposure, highlights, contrast, whites, blacks and shadows. I chose warm orange temperature for the video as it is a sunny day.
I had a scene which the truck would pick up the garbage from the bin on the street so I decided to apply some fade in and out effects to show that the truck is moving near and away. I found a youtube tutorial about fade in and out effects and it was pretty helpful to me.
Lastly, I added few burger frames into the last scene as I think it is not enough. I also apply different exposure to make it slowly fade away effect. I also add a little pause before the social awareness script came in along with the emotional music.
Mr.Martin also provide us a link of youtube tutorial to teach us how to add cross dissolve effect into our videos to make it look better.

I record some of the sound effects from my phone, and get some of the sound effects through the website Mr.Martin provided which is freesound.com.

I record the sound I needed using the toys I've used in my stop motion video shooting.

I've also use gibberish sound as the doll's voice when they're ordering burgers. Lastly, I use some sad and emotional music to end the scene with descriptions of food and resource waste facts.

Week 15:
Mr.Martin suggested to add more frames and slow down the last few scenes in the junk area, also give another 2-3 seconds for the close up burger shot.
Figure2.2 Editing in Stop Motion Studio |
So I edit it in stop motion studio app first. I add on not only the last few scenes but also for other scenes as well. This makes my video more than 30 seconds, and a total of 190 frames, which is why I change the frame rate to 6fps.
Then I move on to edit my stop motion video in Premiere Pro.
