MLO1: Quantifying Data & L.A.C.T.H. Infographic

Lecture:

Miss Anis instruct us to come out with a lecture about types of infographic. The first two groups will present FLIP1 which is to introduce types of infographics and also different tools to make infographics. We suppose to choose one example from the type of infographics and each of us choose one tools to redesign them.

Exercises :

1) Quantify Data : 

For exercise 1 we were to quantify (count) our chosen items and arrange the objects into a presentable charts on a piece of A4 paper. After that, take a picture and submit it. However, the information must be presented as is. We are required to arrange the objects on a piece of paper (A4) with relevant indicators written out with pens to help visualize the quantity and data.

We were given time during class to search for items in our house. I found mini cones with different colors, these cones are used for boardgames. I then arrange them and count them.

2) L.A.T.C.H Infographic

For exercise 2 we have to come out with a poster which represents location, alphabet, timeline, category and hierarchy. We could use the the category Miss Anis provided which is pokemon and dinosaur or we could find our own. I decided to choose League of Legends : Wild Rift as my topic and arrange the heros into category.

In the game, there should be two dragons that will be spawned after ten minutes. One is the Baran Nashor which is the purple huge dragon. The team who gotten this dragon, their minons will create extra damage.

The other dragon is the element dragon, fire, water, cloud, wood. Each element dragon will provide different benefits to the team who slayed the dragon. I added these two dragons into the map using photoshop as it is a important symbol.

I did this poster for my first attempt and I got feedback from Miss Anis, she guided me to come out with another poster without changing my topic.

Then, I photoshopped the heros from their pictures found online into the map and place them together according to their classes.

After that I search for the official logo and photoshopped it into my poster.

Finally, I add in the functions of the heros in each lane making a description corner.

I moved the functions under the heros and changed the font. I chose Libre Baskerville which was recommend by Miss Anis. She gave me few fonts to refer and I chose Libre Baskerville as I think this is good to read and visible.

Reflection : 

Week 1: The exercises were more interesting than I expected, although the video making part was tough but since its a group work I'm sure my members will help with the work load.I'm glad Miss Anis approved it, I really put effort in it. At first I wasn't sure how to add checkers and mini cones together in one paper. I was figuring out for a long time, it took me a while. Then, I just start placing them randomly on that paper to figure out instead of kept thinking. It turns out quite well!

Week 2: I was worried about it initially as I saw group 1 was doing a good job, however Miss Anis said we done well, I was so relief! Hu...!

Week 3: I was very anxious about my poster as I feel like I was going on the wrong track. But I didn't want to do pokemon as many students did that topic and I'm not as familiar with pokemons compares to them. Eventually, my poster got out of topic and I was very upset but miss anis guided me resuming on this topic instead of changing it. I am very grateful for that.

Feedback :

Week 1: Miss Anis suggest to arrange it like a boardgame so that it is presented in a more interesting way. She recommended adding checkers to the picture instead of using just few mini cones, it would be better to have big number of objects.

Week 2: Miss Anis said our team did a good job on the presentations, a lot of informations added and detailing. 

Week 3:Miss Anis said that my poster has nothing to do with the latch exercise, she asked about the information of the game and hero then she recommended me to arrange the information in another factor. She aslo mentioned to add on the functions of the heros in each lane. She asked to change the font and also place the info under the heros.
