Project 1

For this project, we suppose to study one video, breakdown and chunk the preparation and cooking process into an instructable poster. The cooking video we have to choose one from the channel Pasta Grannies and get our information from there.

I chose the video of an Italian granny making Canederli.

Figure 1.1 Isabella.jpg
This is the picture of the granny called Isabella. She lives in a beautiful village of Moana, Italy.
Figure1.2 Color Palate
This is my color palate  breakdown from the granny. I'm gonna use these colors to represent the granny in my poster.

Figure 1.3 Breakdown Process
This is the breakdown process of the recipe. A simple mind map sketch.

Figure 1.4 Ingredients Recipe PDF
This is the information gathered from the video. I collected the data of the ingredients and also a little background of the granny.

Figure 1.5 Illustration Style
From: Pinterest
I also decided on doing my poster using the illustration style above, which is layering the steps and procedures of making the Canederli.

Figure 1.6 Poster Draft
I started off with drawing a very raft poster so that I have the idea of where I'm going. After that it will be easier to add on details.

Figure 1.7 Adding Details
Then, I added the information I have analyzed into the poster. This dish requires a lot of steps so I did some planning before I add them in the poster. I compile 2-3 steps into one layer and also simplify it.

Figure 1.7 Make Adjustments
After adding on the details I got my feedback from Miss Anis and made changes to my poster. Before that I was using one typeface, now I'm using three typefaces which are Libre Baskerville for title, Comic Sans for text and Copperplate for subtitle.

All the colors in the poster is mainly from the color palette I've extracted from the picture of the granny. However, Miss Anis gave me plenty of useful feedback of how to improve my poster as it is too plain and not attractive to audience.

Figure1.9 Improved Poster Design
I've made several adjustments and changes to my poster, if you have notice I have changed the fonts and colors as well so that they don't look so formal and boring but also to suit the poster more. I also drew a cute little granny Isabella beside the title. I redrew the hand and added two arrows for rolling instructions.
I also added plenty of colors to make it look lively and interesting.

Figure2.0 Granny Isabella
The reason why I chose dark green as my base color is because she wore a dark green scarf and also a dark green shirt when she attended the show : Pasta Grannies.

Figure2.1 Updated Poster Design
Just when I decide to make this as my final poster design, I had a second thought that is to improve it by changing the whole color concept of the poster. I found out that granny likes red accessories so I decided to change the colors of the whole poster.

After changed the colors I'm more satisfied of my poster and I'm glad I've made the changes.

Feedback

Week 3: Miss Anis said I could proceed to creating my poster as I had my plannings and breakdown done however I need to come out with a color palette from the granny itself in order to use it while coloring my poster.

Week 4: Miss Anis point out that my title need to be attractive and more interesting, my pot needs to be round not square. Also, I need to keep everything consistent such as the outlines and also suitable fonts. The instructions should be more clear as well as the illustrations like the grate cheese should have a grater.

Week 5: Miss Anis said it was much better but the title need to change. Overall it was fine.

Week 6 : Miss Anis said it looks much better than before.
