Week 3 :
Lecture : Double Exposure & Image Blending Mode
![]() |
Figure 1.1 Blending Modes |
Today we learned about blending mode and Mr. Fauzi wanted use to choose our favorite blending photos from his lecture slides. I chose this as my best photo as I really like the use of color and blending composition. It shows an emotion of sadness from the photo, the use of evening light make me think of autumn and the cold air. The water drops on the glass is also shows raining weather, it creates an emotional mood. I really liked this photo blending.
Blend Modes:
- Normal
- Darken
- Contrast
- Inversion
- Cancelation
- Component
However the commonly used blend modes are :
- Darkening
- Lightening
- Contrast

Week 4 :
Lecture : Match lighting. Adjustment layers, Filters
Mr. Fauzi taught us about how to match the color of object with the background of the photo. He also demonstrated in class step by step. Not only we have to match the color of the object with background, we have to color and make contrast to the object as well. Different placing of lighting will also affect the whole photo.
Figure1.5 Color Adjustment |
Mr.Fauzi said that we used too much blending on every object, try to balance them out and make use of visual balance. He want us to come out with three composition with different photos this time as well as a short reflective writing based on our design.
Figure 1.5 Composition#1 |
Reflective Writing: For this composition, I used soft light blending for the tree and screen blending for the spaceship. This composition indicates that trees can’t grow on the moon, humans use spaceships to enter the moon to do research however there is no oxygen in the moon therefore the astronaut has to leave the moon.

Feedback: Good practice Shin Tung! Keep it up
Week 5 :
Lecture : Exposure: Aperture, Shutter Speed, ISOShutter Speed : measurement of the time the shutter is open. Fast will get clear photo ; slow will get blurry photo. The shorter the time the image sensor is exposed to light, the darker the resulting photograph.
ISO : increases or lowers the amount of light in a photograph. Make use of natural lighting. In ideal conditions, set your base ISO (either 100 or 200), this will result in higher detail and quality. In the dark however, it’ll be necessary to use a higher ISO, with the highest typically being 6400 – be warned, this will increase the amount of grain, or noise, in the photograph.
Aperture: Aperture controls the brightness of the image. The higher the f-number, the smaller the aperture and the less light that passes through the lens; the lower the f-number, the larger the aperture and the more light that passes through the lens.
